The Non-Medical Home Care Option: Providing quality senior home care services for seniors, the elderly and those in need.
Traditionally, both skilled and non-medical home care services were provided for seniors and the elderly by home healthcare agencies. Senior home care and elderly home care services included skilled nursing care, occupational therapy, physical therapy, durable medical equipment, and other healthcare-related services. Today, senior home healthcare agencies throughout the country do an excellent job of providing skilled home care and healthcare to seniors and those who wish to remain independent at home. Many home healthcare agencies are licensed to work with Medicare. As a result, their focus is usually on skilled care.
GRISWOLD SPECIAL CARE coined the term "non-medical" home care to describe those services that often supplement or lead up to the level of care provided by home healthcare agencies. For GRISWOLD SPECIAL CARE, non-medical home care includes personal care (bathing, toileting, continence care, lifting, assistance with ambulation, and feeding) homemaking (cooking, laundry, light housekeeping), and companionship (shopping, errands, and incidental transportation). Historically, non-medical home care included senior home care services serving only seniors and the elderly. Today, not only do we provide senior home care and elderly home care services, but also help individuals with disabilities who often need non-medical home care services.
Today, many states require home care agencies to be licensed or registered to provide personal home care services for seniors, the elderly and those with disabilities. GRISWOLD SPECIAL CARE offices seek and achieve the level of licensure necessary for personal care, homemaking, and companionship services.
